Our #WCW is Dr. Yvonne Maphosa, a lecturer, researcher and author from Plumtree. Some of her works include the best selling novel, “the y in yOUR Man is Silent” and the award winning novel “Grasping at Straws”. She also recently published “Heart in Two” and contributed to the acclaimed anthology: Vagina Monologues Africa.

She is a philanthropist with several past and ongoing activities including the #BuyAPad with Yvonne sanitary wear project and the Luvone Writing Competition from which the book “Luvone: An anthology of short stories” was published. Luvone short stories are a collection of stories by young Zimbabwean previously-unpublished writers.

Yvonne is a collaborative partner in various projects aimed at helping girls in less privileged communities. She also works with the Girls Table WZ.

Yvonne is a mentor to several aspiring young writers and young scientists in Science, Engineering and Technology.

Travelling, reading, hiking, extreme sports, yoga and nature are some of her pastimes.

She has been to 32 countries and has extensively explored Zimbabwe. She summited Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and aims to summit Mount Everest in the near future.
