Despite being sent home just a few weeks before the finale, Rue Mupedzi walked away from this year’s season of MasterChef Australia with one of the biggest prizes the show has ever seen.

The 30-year-old oral health therapist won an immunity challenge earlier this month which saw her smokey, sweet and spicy BBQ sauce being sold in Coles Supermarket across Australia – a first for the cooking competition.

MasterChef’s Rue Mupedzi won a challenge on the show which allowed her to stock her BarbeRue Sauce in Coles Supermarket.

Rue said that that it feels “absolutely amazing” having one of the country’s biggest supermarkets stocking her product, which she titled ‘BarbeRue sauce’.

“It’s been really well received, which is really great to see,” she says. “And honestly, I’m just really proud of myself for doing something that has ended up in Coles Supermarket.

“I have to say that’s probably the proudest moment for me in the competition. That was like the cherry on top of the experience.”

Rue went on to share that she has received “so many messages” from viewers around the world hoping to buy her product.

“I think I’ve gotten a few messages from Germany, Ireland, Scotland, some people from Morocco, some people from the Philippines, the UK,” she details. “Everyone’s like, ‘We would love to try this sauce, can you tell us it’s coming to our country?’.

“And you know what? Maybe that is something I should think about, something that could be a possibility. I don’t know, but that would be an absolute dream come true.”
