About the role

APRI, under the climate change Program, is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated  Project Associate to support the Nigerian Methane Mitigation Project. The Project Associate is responsible for the smooth execution of projects by ensuring that all administrative tasks, from initiation to completion, are carried out efficiently. This role requires keen attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, and proficiency in administrative tools and processes, including invoicing.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Support:
    • Assist project managers in the initiation, planning, execution, and closing of projects.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure project tasks are on track.
    • Maintain and update project documentation, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Invoicing & Financial Tasks:
    • Prepare, review, and process invoices related to project work.
    • Track and report on project expenses, ensuring they stay within budget.
    • Liaise with the finance department to ensure timely payments to vendors and partners.
  • Communication:
    • Facilitate communication between project teams, stakeholders, and clients.
    • Prepare and distribute project updates and reports to relevant parties.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, proposals, and correspondence.
    • Organize and schedule meetings, ensuring all necessary equipment and resources are available.
    • Record and distribute minutes of project meetings to all participants.
  • Resource Management:
    • Monitor the availability of resources (both human and material) and inform project managers of potential shortages or conflicts.
    • Assist in the onboarding and orientation of new project team members.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Participate in project debriefs and reviews to identify areas for improvement.
    • Recommend process improvements to streamline project coordination activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, climate change, international relations, or policy.
  • 3 years of experience in project coordination or a related administrative role.
  • Strong understanding of invoicing and financial processes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks based on project needs.
  • Able to work from our Berlin site.
