A 14-year-old football prodigy from Bulawayo, Awakhiwe ‘Awa’ Tshalibe, has been signed to the first-team squad of Chicken Inn, a former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champion. The young talent, currently a Form Two student at Mpopoma High School, has been nurtured by the club since his junior days.
Tshalibe’s exceptional skills and bravery on the field caught the attention of Chicken Inn during the CAF Schools Championship held in December 2023. He led Zimbabwe’s U-15 side to a bronze medal finish and a prize of US$50,000, leaving an indelible mark on the tournament with his silky play.
Chicken Inn’s coach, Joey Antipas, expressed his excitement about Tshalibe’s potential and the opportunity to help him grow in the game. Tshalibe’s registration has brought joy to his family and school, with high hopes for his future in football.
Tshalibe’s mother and school director have voiced their support and belief in his bright future. The 14-year-old has set his sights on playing for big clubs in England, a dream that Chicken Inn has already shown support for by pampering him with groceries. With determination and hard work, Tshalibe is set to make his mark in the world of football.
