A tragic bus crash claimed the lives of 45 members of the ZCC (Zion Christian Church) on their way to Moria for Easter. Several others have been seriously injured. The incident occurred on the mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken in Limpopo, where the bus lost control, fell over a bridge, and caught fire.
Among the victims was an eight-year-old girl who was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. The pilgrims were en route from Gaborone, Botswana, to Moria, a religious site outside Polokwane. The news of the crash has shocked and saddened the community, with Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga visiting the crash site to offer her condolences.
According to Chikunga, the bus, which was towing a trailer, veered off the bridge and plunged into the rocky river below with approximately 45 occupants on board. Tragically, only the young girl survived, while others perished in the fiery crash. The extent of the injuries and the severity of the accident have left many bodies burnt beyond recognition, making the identification process challenging for officials.
