43-year-old Douglas Mutoredzanwa has been arrested after masquerading as a doctor at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
Mutoredzanwa approached Dr. Wilson Kurangwa at a major referral hospital while he was with a patient. He proceeded to examine an X-ray film, which he held upside down. Subsequently, he took two surgical blades, pethidine drugs, three syringes, cotton wool, two cannula-sensitive tapes, and a pair of gloves before departing.
Dr. Kurangwa, suspecting foul play, alerted the hospital’s loss control officer, which resulted in the arrest of the impostor. Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Mutoredzanwa maintained his innocence, claiming to be a nurse rather than a medical doctor. However his attempt at theft did not make his story any easier to believe. Recently, in another incident, Felix Tagonera of Hatcliffe was also aarrested for masquerading as a gynaecologist in a suit.
