Today in History: On 3 May 2017, former Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku died of complications from cancer in South Africa.

Justice Chidyausiku, born in 1947, attended Mutake School and St Ignatius College before studying law at the University of Rhodesia. He entered private legal practice and won a parliamentary seat in 1974. In 1980, he became Chief Justice and held various government positions, including Deputy Minister and Attorney-General. He chaired the Constitutional Commission in 2000 to draft a new Constitution for Zimbabwe.
