Freddy Changundega, a talented Zimbabwean composer, is the mastermind behind the country’s iconic national anthem. Born in 1954, Changundega’s musical genius was recognized nationwide when he won a competition in 1994 to create a new anthem that would represent Zimbabwe’s unique identity.

In collaboration with the late Professor Solomon Mutswairo, who wrote the lyrics, Changundega’s composition has become an integral part of Zimbabwean culture and heritage. The anthem has been translated into 15 national languages, making it a unifying symbol for the country’s diverse population.
