A devastating road accident occurred on Tuesday evening along Donnybrook Road, Chizhanje area, Mabvuku, Harare, resulting in the loss of six precious lives. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, which involved a truck and two kombis.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of six people, including Felix Javha, a male adult from Hatfield, Harare; Edinah Ndogwedu, a female adult from Riverside, Ruwa; Tarisai Chigwande, a female adult from Odzi, Zimre Park, Harare; and Liberty Chitide, a male adult from Tafara, Harare. Two other victims remain unidentified, pending notification of their next of kin.
Twelve people were injured in the accident, and authorities are working to provide medical assistance and support to those affected.
In a separate incident, three people lost their lives, and ten others were injured in a fatal road traffic accident at the 226-kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road on May 21, 2024, around 2200 hours. An ERF truck with three passengers on board encroached onto the oncoming traffic lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a Stallion Cruise Bus carrying 40 passengers.
