A series of three road traffic accidents occurred in the same location along Mutare Road at the TM Ruwa area last night, resulting in injuries but no reported fatalities. The accidents happened in quick succession, with the first incident occurring around 7pm and the subsequent two accidents happening within a 45-minute span.

The first accident involved a truck carrying day-old chicks, which veered off the road and overturned. Witnesses reported that the truck was traveling in the direction of Harare when it suddenly swerved off the road and landed on its side. Three passengers on board sustained injuries, although the extent of their injuries is not yet clear.

Second Accident

In the same spot, a haulage truck traveling in the same direction as the first truck jackknifed, resulting in minor injuries to the driver, who was the sole occupant. The driver was treated at the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Third Accident

1716525060259

A double cab vehicle, also traveling in the direction of Harare, collided with the stationary haulage truck, leaving the driver with serious injuries to his arm and head. Witnesses reported that the driver was trapped in the vehicle for a short time before being rescued by emergency services.

Close Call

A Gold Class Bus and its passengers narrowly avoided an accident when the driver quickly made a sharp turn to avoid colliding with the stationary haulage truck. The bus was traveling in the same direction as the other vehicles and was able to avoid the accident by mere seconds.

Causes

Witnesses attribute the accidents to slippery road conditions due to wet weather. The road was reportedly wet and slippery, which may have contributed to the vehicles losing control and crashing.
