7 Lives Lost in Devastating Accident

A devastating road accident occurred on Tuesday, June 11, at the 120-kilometer mark along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road, resulting in the loss of 7 lives and leaving 5 others injured.

According to Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the accident involved a Toyota Quantum vehicle that suffered a burst right front tire, veered off the road, and collided with a tree. The vehicle was traveling towards Harare at approximately 4:25 PM.

Five of the seven victims have been identified by their next of kin, including Michael Mugandani (36), Innocent Nyamukondiwa (37), Edith Musorowembudzi (36), Dumisani Mutsawa (33), and Mabhebhe Chingamuka (6). The remaining two victims are still awaiting identification.

Commissioner Nyathi emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and road regulations, stressing that such measures can help prevent tragic incidents like this and save precious human lives. The injured individuals were admitted to Murewa District Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to Mutoko Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
