The Zimbabwe U-19 Women’s cricket team have kickstarted their World Cup tour of Namibia emphatically as they dismantled Namibia U-19 by 96 runs in a T20 match this Monday.

Beloved Biza top-scored for Zimbabwe U-19 with 62 runs as Zimbabwe scored 131-7 in 20 overs.

Their opponents could not reach 40 runs, as Chipo Moyo claimed a five-wicket-haul for 17 runs to dismiss Nambia for a paltry 35-runs.

The top scorer for Namibia was Unombuiro Lanjosa with six runs not out, a score that was equal to Mekelaye Mwatile meaning non of their batters reached double-figures.

Kanjosa was however spectacular with the ball claiming three scalps for 15-runs.

Biza was the stand-out performer with her half century and a wicket critical in Zimbabwe’s march to an emphatic victory.

Zimbabwe had the heartbreak of missing out on a three-figure margin victory, falling four runs short as they bowled their regional counterparts in just 10.3 overs to complete overall dominance.

The ladies Under 19 team travelled on Sunday for the tour of Namibia in which they will play six T20 matches as part of preparations for the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup.

Nine players in the squad were part of the Zimbabwe A that recently won silver in the Kwibuka Women’s T20I tournament in Rwanda.
