WHAT IS THE DIRECT AID PROGRAM

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small grants program funded from Australia’s aid budget. It has the flexibility to work with local communities in developing countries on projects that reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development consistent with Australia’s national interest. The DAP provides funding to community and grass-roots development projects which provide direct, immediate, tangible and high impact outcomes for beneficiary communities.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Funding is available on a not-for-profit basis to community groups, non-governmental organisations and other organisations engaging in development activities in the Embassy’s countries of accreditation eligible for Official Development Assistance: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

During the 2024- 2025 Australian financial year, the Embassy will invite applications for consideration for DAP funding from 9:00am on 24 June 2024 to 14 July 2024 12:00am (midnight) Central African Time (CAT).

Organisations are welcome to submit their applications online via the following link (only accessible within the application window):

Organisations will not be able to access or submit their online application forms before 24 June 2024 or after 14 July 2024.

Please do not email/post unsolicited applications outside of the DAP application platform.

Applications that are incompatible with the DAP Guidelines will not be considered for funding.

The DAP application process is highly competitive, and the Embassy is only able to fund a small portion of applications received each year.
