Our #WCW today is Dr. Afra Nanhanga, a Zimbabwean businesswoman who’s breaking barriers in the transport and aquaculture industries. With her remarkable journey, she’s inspiring countless women to pursue their passions and dreams.
Dr. Afra Nanhanga was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. She comes from a family that values education and entrepreneurship. Her father, Golden Nanhanga, founded CAG Travellers Coaches in 1997, and Dr. Afra Nanhanga began her journey in the transport industry by working alongside him as a conductor. She credits her father with teaching her the importance of hard work, dedication, and resilience.
Dr. Afra Nanhanga attended local schools, excelling in her studies, and later pursued a degree in Business Administration at the University of Zimbabwe. After graduating, she joined her father’s company, CAG Tours, as Operations Manager, overseeing the company’s expansion and modernization. In 2015, she founded Afrason Aquaculture, a fish farming and processing company, contributing to Zimbabwe’s food security and creating jobs.
Dr. Afra Nanhanga’s journey in business has been marked by her father’s guidance, mentorship, and support. She has received numerous awards for her leadership and entrepreneurial spirit, including Businesswoman of the Year in the Transport Sector (2020) and the UN Global Leadership Award. Her company has also been recognized as the Bus and Transport Services Company of the Year.
