Mike Chimombe, a top ZANU PF official, and his business partner Moses Mpofu face a bail ruling on July 16. They are accused of fraudulently obtaining US$7 million meant for the Presidential Goat Scheme. The scheme aims to support small-scale farmers, but the pair allegedly forged documents to win a tender and failed to deliver goats despite receiving payment.
Chimombe and Mpofu were arrested and charged with fraud, and their bail hearing began on June 28. The court is expected to deliver its ruling on July 16, determining whether the two men will be released from custody while they await trial.
