A devastating fire swept through the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Southerton Police Station complex on Friday afternoon, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The blaze, which originated from an electricity pylon, quickly spread throughout the yard, engulfing 12 vehicles parked within the complex.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The ZRP has confirmed the incident and is working to determine the extent of the damage. The police station complex houses two key police units – the Duty Uniform Branch (DUB) and the CID Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS).
The ZRP has assured the public that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and to prevent such incidents in the future. In the meantime, police operations at the Southerton Police Station complex have been temporarily relocated to a nearby facility.
