#MCM – Muller Conrad Rautenbach – Businessman

Our #MCM today is Muller Conrad “Billy” Rautenbach – a Zimbabwean businessman and entrepreneur who has made a significant impact in the transport, mining, and biofuel industries!

Muller was born on September 23, 1959, in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe). He grew up in a family with a strong business background, which would later influence his career path. After completing his education, Muller pursued his passion for rally racing, competing in various local and international events.

He inherited his father’s trucking company, Wheels of Africa, and expanded its operations to Johannesburg, South Africa. Muller diversified the company’s services to include car assembly and distribution. Under his leadership, Wheels of Africa became a significant player in southern Africa, controlling 75% of the Zimbabwean haulage market by 1999.

In addition to his transport ventures, Muller explored opportunities in mining and biofuel production. He held a 50% stake in Hyundai’s operations in South Africa and Botswana and owned the Volvo heavy vehicle franchise in thirteen African countries. His mining interests included cobalt and platinum ventures in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Notably, Muller is also the owner of Green Fuel (Pvt) Ltd, a leading biofuel company in Zimbabwe. His vision for sustainable energy solutions has made a significant impact on the country’s energy sector.

Muller is married to Jenny Lynn Rautenbach (née Noon), and they have a son, Conrad Rautenbach, who is a rally driver competing in the World Rally Championship. Muller’s love for rally racing has been passed down to the next generation!
