The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed conducting interviews for the position of Warriors head coach. The association is seeking a suitable candidate to lead the national team.
ZIFA interviewed five coaches, including Winfried Schafer, a veteran German coach who won the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon in 2002. Other candidates include Antoine Hey, Michael Nees, Spanish coach Gerard Nus, and Brazilian coach Marcio Maximo Barcellos. The first round of interviews was conducted on July 22, 2024, and a second round of interviews and vetting will be done in the next few days.
The selected candidate will be announced after the second round of interviews. FIFA is involved in the selection process and will cover the financial package and salary for the chosen candidate, with an annual budget of up to US$150,000. ZIFA is expected to make a decision soon, and the new head coach will be tasked with leading the Warriors to success in upcoming tournaments.
