The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Harare City Council Town Clerk, Engineer Hosiah Chisango, on charges of criminal abuse of duty.
The arrest is linked to the awarding of a street lights tender worth over US$9.2 million to Juluka Enndo Joint Venture, a company owned by businessman Moses Mpofu, without following due process.
According to ZACC, Engineer Chisango acted in connivance with four other officials, who are already in custody, to award the tender to Juluka Enndo Joint Venture. The commission’s investigation revealed that the tender was awarded without following proper procedures, raising suspicions of foul play.
Engineer Chisango is expected to appear in court on July 25, 2024, to face charges related to the tender scandal.
