A 32-year-old Zimbabwean man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Gloucester. Tanaka Zivania, of Dora Walk in Gloucester, UK, has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda.
Police were called to the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road in Gloucester at around 1.45am yesterday, Tuesday, August 27. It was reported that a woman sustained suspected stab wounds.
Sadly, she died at the scene. Her next of kin has been told and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Zivania has been remanded in custody and will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 29 August.
Gloucestershire Police said: “A man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Tredworth, Gloucester in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 27 August).
“Tanaka Zivania, aged 32 and of Dora Walk in Gloucester, has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda.
“Police had been called to the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road at around 1.45am on Tuesday with a report that a woman had sustained suspected stab wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Ms Sibanda’s next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by family liaison officers. Zivania has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday 29 August).”
