Yesterday, the Ndebele people gathered at Mhlahlandlela, Matobo, to commemorate King Mzilikazi Day, also known as “Umgubho weNkosi uMzilikazi.” This significant cultural event pays tribute to the founder of the Ndebele nation, King Mzilikazi Khumalo, who broke away from Zulu King Shaka’s rule in 1821 and established the Ndebele nation in present-day Zimbabwe.
The celebrations featured an array of traditional dances, songs, and speeches that showcased the rich history and culture of the Ndebele people. This year’s event held special significance, marking the 156th anniversary of Mzilikazi’s death.
