Dynamos Crashes Out of CAF Confederation Cup After Penalty Heartbreak

Dynamos’ African adventure came to an abrupt end on Sunday as they lost 3-1 on penalties to Botswana’s Orapa United in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first round.

The Glamour Boys had started with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg but were undone by Ivan Kamberipa’s 78th-minute strike, which leveled the aggregate score at 1-1.

Dynamos had earlier missed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Kevin Moyo’s penalty kick was saved. Emmanuel Paga also had a goal disallowed for offside.

The match went to penalties, where Dynamos’ woes continued. They missed three kicks, while Orapa United converted all theirs to seal a 3-1 victory.

Orapa United advances to the group stage, with the draw ceremony scheduled for October 7. Dynamos’ exit marks the end of Zimbabwean representation in the competition.
