Former Zimbabwean boxing champion Charles Manyuchi has been ordered by the Masvingo High Court to pay $18,000 in damages for impregnating a married woman, Chengeto Viola Munyaka. Chengeto was employed at Manyuchi’s gym in Masvingo. The court’s decision came after Tapiwa Munyaka, Chengeto’s husband and a regional bank manager, filed a lawsuit demanding $50,000 in compensation.

Munyaka presented compelling evidence, including intimate photos, proving Manyuchi’s involvement with his wife. The court acknowledged Manyuchi’s actions as a breach of marital trust and an infringement on Munyaka’s conjugal rights. Manyuchi’s adulterous relationship with Chengeto, a former employee, added to the complexity of the case.

The ruling underscores the severity of adultery offenses in Zimbabwean law. While Munyaka initially sought $50,000, the court settled on $18,000, considering factors such as emotional distress and damage to Munyaka’s reputation.
