A disturbing case of murder has led to the arrest of 20-year-old Memory Moyana, a resident of Mabvuku, Harare. The arrest was prompted by a shocking video circulating on social media, which showed a woman brutally assaulting a naked minor in a toilet. Preliminary investigations by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) revealed that the incident occurred on December 16, 2024, at a house along Hunga Street, Chizhanje, Mabvuku.
According to the police, Memory Moyana, who is the victim’s stepmother, attempted to cover up the crime by claiming that the minor had been attacked by evil spirits. As a result, the baby was taken to a self-proclaimed prophet in Ruwa, where she tragically died. In an attempt to conceal their actions, Moyana and her husband, Talent Muchato (26), tried to secretly bury the victim at Mutinhima Village, Nyazura on December 17, 2024.
The police were alerted to the incident by a concerned citizen, leading to Moyana’s arrest. The case is currently under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
