High Court Judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi is set to deliver a ruling next Thursday on Walter Magaya’s challenge against his disqualification from the ZIFA presidential elections. Magaya, the owner of Yadah Football Club, was barred from running due to a dispute over his qualifications. Despite submitting three diplomas, which his lawyers claim exceed the minimum requirements of 5 O-Levels, Magaya was told he didn’t meet the criteria.

Magaya’s legal team argues that their client was not given sufficient time to submit his qualifications, leading to his unfair disqualification. This prompted Magaya to take legal action, seeking a review of the ZIFA Statutes that led to his exclusion from the elections. The case has been ongoing, with the High Court set to deliver its verdict next Thursday.

The outcome of this case will have significant implications for Magaya’s future in Zimbabwean football. If the court rules in his favor, Magaya may be reinstated as a candidate for the ZIFA presidency. However, if the court upholds his disqualification, Magaya’s hopes of leading Zimbabwean football will be dashed. Football fans and enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting the court’s decision next Thursday.
