A dramatic turn of events has unfolded in a high-profile case involving Zimbabwean businessman Siqokoqela Mphoko. Initially convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape, Mphoko was later acquitted. He has now filed a $500,000 lawsuit against his accuser, Mantombi Ndlovu. The case began in 2022 when Ndlovu alleged that Mphoko had sexually assaulted her 12-year-old daughter, who is also Mphoko’s niece.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Mphoko maintained his innocence, claiming the accusations were part of a family conspiracy aimed at preventing him from investigating questions about his biological mother. The court ultimately found significant issues with the prosecution’s case, highlighting concerns about the credibility of the accusations. The judges noted that the allegations appeared to be influenced by threats made by the alleged victim’s mother and expressed concerns about the considerable delay in reporting the alleged incident.

A medical examination of the minor on August 30, 2022, further cast doubt on the accusations. The doctor found no vaginal tears, contradicting Ndlovu’s claim that she had spotted blood stains on her daughter’s undergarments. Mphoko’s acquittal and subsequent lawsuit have brought attention to the importance of ensuring the integrity of the legal process and protecting individuals from false accusations.
