Our #MCM today is Munyaradzi Makosa, a 25-year-old Zimbabwean entrepreneur and tech enthusiast who is making waves in the African startup scene.
Munyaradzi’s passion for technology and artificial intelligence began at a young age, and he is largely self-taught in marketing and computer programming. His interest in using technology to solve African problems has driven him to pursue innovative ventures that have the potential to positively impact communities.
One of Munyaradzi’s most notable achievements is the establishment of Farmhut, an AI-powered marketplace that connects farmers to markets that pay fair prices for their produce. Founded in 2019, Farmhut enables farmers to grow their businesses quickly and efficiently, while ensuring consumers have access to fresh, local, and sustainably-grown food. The platform has gained significant traction, with plans to expand into the SADC region in the coming years.
Munyaradzi’s entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach have earned him numerous accolades. He is a recipient of the Social Entrepreneurship Award from Hult International Business School and the Un75 award for “The Future We Want” at the University World Cup of Startups. He has also worked with several prominent brands in Zimbabwe, including Zimbabwe Yellow Pages.
In 2021, Munyaradzi was named one of Africa’s top innovators under the Anzisha Fellowship, receiving a grant of US$20,000 to further develop his business. This recognition is a testament to his hard work and dedication to creating positive change in his community.
Through his work, Munyaradzi is not only empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture but also inspiring a new generation of young entrepreneurs to pursue their passions and make a meaningful impact in the world.
