A Chinhoyi pastor, Desmond Parirehwa, has been accused of deceiving a 79-year-old congregant, Elizabeth Fadhuka, out of a residential stand worth US$25,000. Parirehwa, founder of Deliverance and Solutions Church, allegedly took advantage of Fadhuka’s trust and unlawfully claimed ownership of her property.
The betrayal reportedly began when Fadhuka entrusted Parirehwa with the title deeds to her residential stand for safekeeping before traveling to the UK for medical treatment. However, instead of handing over the documents to her family, Parirehwa allegedly became evasive and eventually took possession of the stand, building structures on it and registering it in his own name without Fadhuka’s consent.
Parirehwa has since been arrested and appeared in court, where he was granted bail at US$200. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 13. The incident has raised concerns about the abuse of trust and power within religious communities.
