FIFA has handed down a significant ruling against Ngezi Platinum Stars, ordering the club to pay its former head coach, Benjani Mwaruwari, approximately US$600,000 in compensation for unfair dismissal. The decision comes after Mwaruwari lodged a complaint with FIFA’s Player Status Committee, alleging that he was wrongly terminated by the club.

According to FIFA’s ruling, Ngezi Platinum Stars have 45 days to compensate Mwaruwari the owed amount. Failure to comply with this directive will result in severe consequences, including a transfer ban imposed by FIFA. This means that the club will be prohibited from registering new players until the debt is settled.
The ruling serves as a reminder to clubs of their obligations to coaches and players, and the consequences of failing to meet those obligations. Mwaruwari, a former Zimbabwe international player, had been in charge of Ngezi Platinum Stars before his dismissal. The club will now need to take immediate action to avoid further sanctions and reputational damage.
