Chikomo was on her way to Mbare Musika to send day-old chicks to Nyanga for a poultry project. Family spokesperson Happiness Kazembe described her as a loving and industrious woman who will be deeply missed. Chikomo is survived by her two daughters, aged 32 and 28.

The accident also left eight others injured, and one of the seven victims was reportedly an innocent bystander. The kombi’s driver had reversed to pick up more passengers just moments before the speeding UD truck struck from behind. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, which occurred at a notorious intersection near Thuli Service Station.
