Intratrek ZW, owned by Wicknell Chivayo, has secured a massive $2.5 billion deal with Chint Group Co., Ltd, a leading Chinese company specializing in smart energy solutions. The partnership involves the construction of 13 power transmission lines in Kenya and a national grid stability upgrade in Tanzania.
Chint Group is a Chinese holding company with a strong presence in the global market, operating in over 100 countries and regions. The company boasts total assets valued at approximately $25 billion, with overseas business accounting for 30% of its total revenue. Chint’s expertise in low-voltage electrical appliances and photovoltaic products will be instrumental in driving the success of this project.
Wicknell Chivayo’s Intratrek ZW has significant interests in energy projects across Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, and other countries. This deal is expected to further solidify Chivayo’s position as a key player in the energy sector, while also contributing to the development of critical infrastructure in Kenya and Tanzania.
