The Women’s Premier Soccer League (PSL), initially set to kick off on April 5, has been postponed indefinitely due to a lack of sponsorship. Despite efforts to secure funding, the league has been forced to delay its start.
Prophet Walter Magaya, who had previously supported the league, was reportedly asked to withdraw his sponsorship to avoid overshadowing the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA). However, Magaya has continued to show his support for the league by offering the use of the Heart Stadium.
The postponement of the Women’s PSL has raised concerns about the future of women’s football in Zimbabwe. The league’s organizers will need to secure new sponsorship deals in order to get the season underway.
