Alisha Simango, a Form One student at a Budiriro school, was found hanging in her bathroom on Friday morning, leaving her family and neighbors in shock. According to her father, Simango, Alisha seemed normal before her death, having come to his room to heat water for bathing and preparing for school. However, her diary revealed a different story, with entries detailing her struggles with school problems, mental health issues, and heartbreak.

Alisha’s diary entries exposed her inner turmoil, particularly her distress over her boyfriend’s alleged infidelity with a girl from the same school who didn’t like her. The final straw was reportedly a kissing incident between her boyfriend and the other girl. In her diary, Alisha expressed feelings of loneliness and desperation, writing, “I don’t know who to trust anymore… I am always crying.”
The family is still grappling with the sudden loss, with Alisha’s mother insisting on a post-mortem examination. Alisha’s father expressed shock and sadness, stating that he had no idea what was troubling his daughter, except for a pending school fee payment of US$30, which he had promised to settle on Saturday. The teenager’s death has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the importance of addressing mental health issues and supporting vulnerable young people.
