ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi and Warriors coach Michael Nees held an interface meeting with Zimbabweans in the diaspora in London yesterday. The discussions centered on strategies for the growth of the nation’s football through the increased involvement of players born and based outside Zimbabwe. This initiative underscores ZIFA’s commitment to tapping into the talent pool within the diaspora to strengthen the national team and enhance the overall quality of Zimbabwean football.

The meeting provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing members of the diaspora community to share their perspectives and ideas on how they can contribute to the development of the sport in Zimbabwe. Magwizi and Nees emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment that encourages diaspora players to represent their country. They highlighted the potential benefits that these players, often exposed to different footballing cultures and high-level competition, could bring to the Warriors and the broader football landscape.
Following the London engagement, Magwizi and Nees are scheduled to conduct a similar meeting in Birmingham today before concluding their tour and returning to Zimbabwe. Their itinerary also included a meeting with Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Colonel (Rtd) Christian Katsande, further highlighting the collaborative effort to engage the diaspora in the nation’s footballing ambitions.
