Colonel Andrew Kabaira, a senior officer in the Zimbabwe National Army, has passed away at the age of 64. According to a statement from the army, Kabaira succumbed to a short illness on July 21 and died at the ZNA 2 Referral Hospital in Harare. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
Kabaira was a dedicated and loyal officer who served his country with distinction. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in 2022 and served as the Harare District Garrison Commander until June 2024. His passing has sent shockwaves through the army and the nation, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and friends.
The Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant-General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, expressed his deep sadness at Kabaira’s passing, describing him as a dedicated and loyal officer.
Mourners have gathered at Kabaira’s home in Bluff Hill, Harare, to pay their respects to the fallen officer. His death comes just days after the passing of another senior officer, Brigadier-General (Rtd) Dr Michael Chaminuka, and is a significant loss to the army and the nation.
