A disturbing incident of domestic violence has led to the arrest of Zimbabwean cricket player Tarisai Musakanda on charges of attempted murder. According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, Musakanda allegedly attacked his wife, Tinodiwanashe Makunike, following a dispute that turned violent.
The altercation began when Tinodiwanashe hired two men to construct a shelter at her vending site. When the workers returned to collect payment, the situation escalated, resulting in Musakanda confronting his wife. Eyewitnesses reported hearing screams from Tinodiwanashe around 3 a.m., prompting neighbors to rush to the scene.
Upon arrival, neighbors found Musakanda allegedly holding a knife, with his wife trying to protect herself. One anonymous witness described the terrifying events: “We saw Musakanda holding a knife, and his wife was trying to protect herself, but she was injured… We intervened, saw she had been stabbed in the back, and immediately took her to the hospital.”
This incident has raised concerns about domestic violence, particularly given reports of previous disputes between the couple. The police have confirmed that Musakanda is in custody and facing charges of attempted murder.
