Virginia and Tommy Stevens, an elderly Tennessee couple married for 69 years, held hands during their final moments at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Both aged 91, they faced health challenges simultaneously.
Tommy, suffering from Alzheimer’s, developed aspiration pneumonia and sepsis. On the same day, Virginia had a fall, resulting in six broken ribs, a spinal fracture, and a hip injury. The hospital staff reunited them in one room, where they continuously held hands.
Their daughter, Karen Kreager, shared their touching reunion, noting her mother’s refusal to let go of her husband’s hand. Tommy passed away on September 8, followed by Virginia on September 17 🕊♥️
