Zimbabwe Football legend Peter Ndlovu was the first African player in the English Premiere League when it was founded on 20 February 1992.
Then still a teenager, Peter Ndlovu also became the first African to score in the new league for Coventry City Football Club in a 2-1 win match against Sheffield on 2 September 1992 after joining the club in 1991 from Bulawayo-based Highlanders Football Club
Since Ndlovu’s Premier League debut, about 300 Africans have followed in his footsteps in what is widely regarded as one of the best leagues in world football.
Peter Ndlovu score a total of 34 Premier League goals and remains the highest-scoring Zimbabwean in England but he has since been far surpassed in the all-time list of African footballers.
