Sadomba Fasted For 3 Days, Sold House to Raise Money For Court Battle!

Former Zimbabwean footballer Edward Sadomba disclosed that he took drastic measures to recover approximately US$450,000 owed to him by his former Libyan club. Sadomba shared that he sold one of his houses and undertook a three-day fasting and prayer retreat near Harare in a bid to settle the debt.

In January 2016, Sadomba and Al Ahli reached an agreement to terminate their contract, with the Libyan club agreeing to pay the Zimbabwean player US$450,000. However, it later came to light that Sadomba had been deceived into signing a document falsely stating that he had received the money in cash, when in reality he had not received any payment.

Sadomba took his case to FIFA, but encountered numerous obstacles along the way. In order to cover the arbitration fees required after escalating the issue to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), he was forced to sell a house in Waterfalls for US$60,000. Despite his financial struggles, Sadomba remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice.

After spending three days in prayer and fasting at Resthaven Retreat near Glen Forest Cemetery, Sadomba received a breakthrough in July 2017 when CAS overturned the decision made by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber. As a result, he was finally paid the US$450,000 owed to him by the Libyan club.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Sadomba visited Resthaven Retreat to reflect on his journey and express his gratitude. He tearfully recounted the challenges he had faced and emphasized the importance of staying true to one’s faith and values. In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, Sadomba donated a cottage he had built to the institution.
