This is Michael Mawema
He is widely credited for coming up with the name ZIMBABWE in the early 60s.

In 1961 Mawema split the National Democratic Party together with Patrick Matimba, Paul Mushonga and others . This was the first major split of a nationalist movement in Rhodesia. Mawema’s faction vehemently disagreed with Joshua Nkomo’s leadership. They created a new party called the Zimbabwe National Party. This was the first political party to use the name Zimbabwe. Mawema is said to have coined the name Zimbabwe way before the NDP split

Remember the NDP was the second nationalist movement formed after the banning the of the Southern Rhodesia ANC. Mawema’s ZNP flopped and he wasn’t even its President, it was led by Patrick Matimba with Mawema being the SG.

Mawema later joined ZANU in 1963 . After the arrest of most ZANU and ZAPU leaders, Mawema together with Eddison Sithole, Zvobgo, Chinamano and a few others who were not arrested, formed Muzorewa’s African National Council . Muzorewa was not there when the ANC was formed, he was only invited to lead it with his tittle being Chairman.

Muzorewa’s ANC was formed by ZAPU and ZANU members during the Pearce Commission era in the early 70s. It was formed to oppose the Anglo-Rhodesian constitutional proposal

Mawema died in 2000, it is reported that he committed suicide
