The Bulawayo police have confirmed that they are treating the death of Absolom Junior Sakala, a 24-year-old former National University of Science and Technology (NUST) student, as a sudden death. Sakala’s decomposing body was found in his room at the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe Student Accommodation Complex last Thursday.
According to Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube, the investigation has revealed no evidence of criminal activity or foul play. “We are treating the case as a sudden death,” he stated.
Sakala had failed his academic modules in 2023 and was no longer enrolled at NUST. However, it remains unclear why he was still residing at the student accommodation complex.
The police investigation is ongoing, but authorities have emphasized that no suspicious circumstances have been found. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
