Mary Mubaiwa, the ex-wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has been dealt a significant blow as her appeal for a permanent stay of prosecution was dismissed by the court. Mubaiwa is facing allegations of attempting to kill Vice President Chiwenga and has been struggling with deteriorating health, having lost her left leg.

Harare Regional Magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka cited delays primarily caused by the defense as the reason for dismissing Mubaiwa’s appeal. Mubaiwa’s lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, had argued that the delays in the trial were excessive and affected her ability to receive a fair trial. However, Magistrate Chakanyuka emphasized that the repeated postponements had prejudiced the complainant, who is eager to see the case concluded.

The dismissal of Mubaiwa’s appeal has sparked concern on social media, with many expressing sympathy for her deteriorating health. Videos of Mubaiwa arriving at court in a wheelchair have gone viral, highlighting the challenges she faces. The case will now proceed, with Mubaiwa’s health and well-being remaining a concern.
