Renowned wildlife ecologist and scholar Professor Edson Gandiwa has been appointed the new Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) Director-General. He takes over from Dr Fulton Mangwanya, who has been reassigned as the Director-General for the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).
Professor Gandiwa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. He is a professor of Wildlife Conservation and Management and previously served as the Dean of the School of Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation at Chinhoyi University of Technology. His academic background is equally impressive, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and Health from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
Professor Gandiwa’s educational qualifications also include a Master’s Degree in Tropical Resource Ecology from the University of Zimbabwe and a Doctorate degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management from Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. His appointment as the new ZimParks Director-General is expected to bring a new level of expertise and leadership to the organization.
