The Zimbabwean government is poised to implement significant constitutional changes aimed at extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028. This move follows a resolution made by Zanu PF during its Annual National People’s Conference in 2024.
According to Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, the government is ready to effect these changes once they receive the necessary instructions.
The proposed constitutional changes have sparked concerns about the potential erosion of democratic principles and the rule of law in Zimbabwe.
