UK-born Zimbabwean midfielder Kundai Benyu has made a significant move to Zimbabwe, signing a two-year contract with Castle Lager Premier Soccer League giants CAPS United. Benyu arrived in the country on Saturday afternoon, paving the way for his official unveiling at the Harare-based club.
This marks a new chapter in Benyu’s career, which had stalled in recent years. The 27-year-old had spent the past two years without a club, last playing for Icelandic side ÍB Vestmannaeyja before his contract expired on 31 December 2022. Benyu has also had stints with Celtic, Helsingborgs IF in Sweden, and Ipswich in England, where he began his professional career.
Benyu’s move to CAPS United will be his first foray into the Zimbabwean top-flight league. As a player with Warriors caps, his experience and skills are expected to bolster the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
