#WCW: Ruvimbo Mucherera – Footballer

Our #WCW today is Ruvimbo Mucherera, a talented and determined US-born Zimbabwean footballer who’s making waves in the sports world.

Ruvimbo Mucherera 

Born on October 5, 1996, in Denver, Colorado, Ruvimbo grew up in a family that valued education and sports. Her parents, Tapiwa and Bertha Mucherera, are natives of Zimbabwe and hold Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Ruvimbo’s passion for soccer began at the age of four, when she joined a boys’ team in Lexington, Kentucky. She quickly fell in love with the sport and went on to play for various club teams, including the Florida Kraze/Krush club team in Orlando. During her high school years, Ruvimbo attended Hagerty High School, where she was a four-year member of the school team and earned numerous accolades.

After high school, Ruvimbo attended the University of North Carolina, where she played for the women’s soccer team. In 2020, she signed her first professional contract with Gintra, a Lithuanian club, and made her debut in the Women’s Champions League. In January 2021, Ruvimbo joined KuPS, a Finnish Naisten Liiga outfit, on a one-year deal.

Ruvimbo’s achievements extend beyond her impressive soccer career. She’s also passionate about inspiring and empowering young girls and women in Zimbabwe to pursue their dreams in sports. She’s visited local clubs, including Maningi FC, to share her experiences and motivate the next generation of female soccer players.
