A 26-year-old Kenyan man’s daring scheme was brought to an end when he was arrested for running an illegal police station. Collins Leitich, also known as Chepkulei, had been operating the fake police post in Cherus Centre, Uasin Gishu County, for six months. His illegal operation was complete with a courtroom, a magistrate, and even plans to set up a prison.
Leitich’s fake police station was surprisingly elaborate. He had painted his Probox vehicle with Administration Police colors and even added a siren. He would use this vehicle to arrest unsuspecting victims, who would then be taken before his makeshift courtroom. The fake magistrate would fine the suspects, adding to the illusion of a legitimate law enforcement operation.
Leitich’s motives for setting up the fake police station are unclear, but his actions are a serious breach of the law. He has been accused of establishing an illegal police post and other related charges. The incident has raised concerns about the vulnerability of the justice system to manipulation and the need for vigilance in ensuring that the rule of law is upheld.
