WE ARE HIRING Cross Drivers

Responsibilities:

Safely and efficiently operate heavy commercial vehicles (rigid trucks and/or articulated trucks/interlinks) over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and company regulations.

Transport various goods and materials to designated destinations within Zimbabwe and potentially across borders.

Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in safe operating condition and reporting any defects promptly.

Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date trip logs, mileage records, and vehicle maintenance reports.

Adhere to all customs regulations and border crossing procedures when operating internationally.

Communicate effectively with dispatchers, loaders, and clients regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.

Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods, maintaining the integrity of the cargo.

Practice safe driving techniques and defensive driving skills at all times.

Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of the assigned vehicle.

Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, fuel consumption, and vehicle operation.

Represent Strauss Logistics professionally and courteously to clients and the public.

Be prepared for extended periods away from home.

Qualifications and Experience

Valid Zimbabwean Driver's License:

Must possess a valid and clean Class 2 driver's license (minimum) or Class C/CE driver's license (depending on the vehicle type).

Must have a valid Retest Certificate for the applicable driver's license class.

Must possess the relevant Professional Driver's Permit (PDP) endorsement on your driver's license (likely Code G for goods vehicles over 3,500kg).

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable professional driving experience operating heavy commercial vehicles (rigid and/or articulated trucks).

Proven experience in cross-country or long-haul driving is highly preferred.

Experience in reversing interlink trailers may be an added advantage for certain positions.

Certifications:

Must possess a valid Defensive Driving Certificate.

Must have a valid Medical Certificate confirming fitness to operate heavy commercial vehicles.

Passport:

Must possess a valid Zimbabwean passport for potential cross-border operations.

Age:

Minimum age of 30 years is generally preferred for cross-country driving roles.

Other:

Must have a clean criminal record (Police Clearance Certificate may be requested).

Must be able to provide verifiable references from previous employers.

Must have a good understanding of Zimbabwean traffic laws and regulations.

Familiarity with customs procedures and cross-border regulations (if applicable).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Willingness to work flexible hours and be away from home for extended periods.
