In the 2015/16, Billiat was rightfully named the PSL Footballer of the Season, he was part of a deadly Mamelodi Sundownstrio alongside Keagan Dolly and Leonardo Castro. That combination was reincarnated at Kaizer Chiefs but the three players just could not jell as well as they did at Downs.
Fast forward a few years later, Billiat’s star dimmed, but Chiefs did not pull the plug on him – instead, the club presented him with a contract extension, which came with a salary cut, which chased away Billiat, who clearly knows his worth.
Since then, he has been linked with a number of moves, but nothing has materialized. However, being a free agent, he may still join any team and here, GOAL looks at Billiat’s possible options.
The Cape… not so flattering
Billiat made his name in the Mother City with Ajax Cape Town, now known as Cape Town Spurs as he terrorized defenders and caught the eye of Pitso Mosimane, who brought him to Chloorkop.
Recently, there was some interest in his services from that region as Cape Town City chairman John Comitis was ready to pounce on the 33-year-old. However, Khama left City in suspense as he held out for a more lucrative dea.
Sukazi’s loving arms?
Perhaps it is safe to say TS Galaxy are the old age home of South African football as club chairman Tim Sukazi and head coach Sead Ramovic have always opened the door for players who have past their prime.
Bernard Parker, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Lindokuhle Mbatha, Thamsanqa Gabuza, Vuyo Mere, are all players who have seen better days in their careers but ended up with The Rockets after being spat out by bigger teams.
Billiat fits the criteria and given his historical brilliance, Ramovic might be keen.
Return home?
No matter where the road leads you, always remember the way that leads you home.
This is an age-old phrase known by many, and Billiat might want to lean on this statement and be practical about it. He only played for one team in his professional career in Zimbabwe as he turned out for Caps United.
With things seemingly moving slow in the PSL, it might be prudent for Billiat to wrap up his career in his country as his people would be excited to have a Caf Champions League winner and a player with Fifa Club World Cup experience.

A trip up North?
Billiat has always been hot property on the African continent as a few big teams have tried to prise him away from Sundowns at some point.
Since his Chiefs exit, Billiat has been linked with Egyptian giants Zamalek, but nothing came from that the club and Billiat’s reps did not deny or confirm the link. But as the saying goes – there is no smoke without fire.
Zamalek are in a rebuilding phase and could use a player of Billiat’s calibre as they look to re-establish themselves as regulars in the Caf Champions League and challenge Al Ahly for the Egyptian Premier League.
Kaizer ChiefsHolding out for big money?
Well, Billiat made it clear that he still deserves to get a lion’s share in terms of his remuneration as he walked out of Chiefs after a proposed pay cut. He has seen a number of players heading to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates where the financial packages are insane.
Maybe, just maybe, he is holding out for an offer coming from that part of the region as age is not really much of a factor in the gulf?
There is also a possibility of him joining African sides like Al Hilal, Petro Atletico and others who are willing to take a risk on the former Amakhosi man. After all, 33 might just be his football age as Thuso Phala spilled the beans.
