The Zambezi River Authority has announced the allocation of 27 billion cubic meters (BCM) of water for power generation at the Kariba Dam for 2025. This vital resource will be shared equally between ZESCO Limited of Zambia and Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), ensuring a steady supply of electricity for the surrounding areas.
The Kariba Dam, located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the world and a crucial source of hydroelectric power for the region. The allocated water volume is based on careful assessment of water levels, precipitation patterns, and evaporation rates, aiming to balance power generation needs with environmental considerations.
